About this piece
Natural corundum coloured red by chromium, heated — long-established practice on this species. This site does not stock lead-glass-filled ruby, which is a separate and far more consequential treatment: it produces a stone that looks dramatically better than the material underneath and cannot survive ordinary jeweller's repairs. If a ruby's price looks impossible, filling is usually the reason. Silk inclusions are visible under magnification and are normal in natural ruby.
