- None — solid metal throughout, not plated, filled or coated
- Nickel release
- Nickel-safe, tested to UK REACH limitsThis item is inserted into a pierced ear, so it is tested against the 0.2 µg/cm²/week release limit for post-assemblies. It also meets the lead limit of 0.05 % and the cadmium limit of 0.01 %. We do not describe any item on this site as suitable for every skin, because no material can be.
Cleaning limits for this piece
- Porous stone: no ultrasonic, no steam, no soaking. Keep away from perfume, hairspray, cosmetics and household cleaners. Put it on last, take it off first.
- Mohs 5.5 – 6.5: this stone is softer than household dust, so it will scuff if it is rubbed against harder surfaces. Store it separately, not loose in a jewellery box.

About this piece
Solid opal domes in rubover bezels, which cover the girdle completely — the most protective setting available for a Mohs 5.5 material. Even so, these are graded delicate. Take them out before sleeping; a pillow at an angle is enough to abrade an opal over time.
Total carat weight across all 2 stones: 1.00 ct. The wear grade shown for the piece as a whole is delicate, because a piece is only as forgiving as its softest stone.
